Greg Paye, Head Coach and Owner
Coach Paye has been fencing for over 25 years. In his high school and college years, he was a top junior foil fencer in the Maryland and New England divisions. After college he swtiched to epee, competed nationally and internationally, and in 2001 won 1st place at the Mid-Atlantic Sectional Championships.

Deborah Apple, Assistant Coach
Debbie has been fencing for over 10 years, and she is a founding member of Maryland Fencing Club. She is a certified referee with the Fencing Officials Commission in foil, epee, and saber has an Education B.A. from Goucher College (where she fenced and coached), and currently teaches for the Baltimore City Public Schools. |

Jeff Safko, Assistant Coach
Jeff has been fencing for over 10 years, and has a USFA "C" classification in epee. In high school he fenced in the Junior Olympics. He is a recent graduate of the University of Maryland, College Park where he fenced and coached. |

Gianni Cappelletti, Assistant Instructor
Gianni was one of the first students when Maryland Fencing Club opened its doors in August 2008. Gianni's competitive experiences include two Super Youth Circuit events, a North Atlantic Circuit Youth-12 event, and the Youth-12 Summer National Championships; he placed high enough in all four to earn national points. He finished his Youth-12 career in July 2010 ranked 36th in country - an impressive accomplishment for just two years of fencing experience. He has earned a USFA "E" classification in epee and the MDFC Brown rank. He completed the club's instructor training program, and is currently working towards USFCA Assistant Moniteur certification. |

Rob Conway, Assistant Instructor
Rob has an extensive athletic background in both martial arts and swimming. He has been a dedicated fencer since starting with Maryland Fencing Club in summer 2009, and in that time has participated in numerous local competitions. He has earned a USFA "E" classification in epee and the MDFC Brown rank. He completed the club's instructor training program, and he is currently working towards USFCA Assistant Moniteur certification. |

Marina Farrugia, Assistant Instructor
Marina started fencing with Coach Paye in 2008, and she is a founding member of Maryland Fencing Club. In her short time fencing she has qualified for and participated in the Junior Olympics, qualified for Under-16 Summer National Championships, and trained at the Penn State Fencing Camp. She has earned a USFA "E" classification in epee and the MDFC Brown rank. She completed the club's instructor training program, and is currently working towards USFCA Assistant Moniteur certification. |

Noah Gilmour, Assistant Instructor
Noah has been fencing at MDFC since the fall of 2008. He has earned a USFA "E" classification in epee and the MDFC Purple rank. He completed the club's instructor training program, and is currently working towards USFCA Assistant Moniteur certification. |

Morgan Jones, Assistant Instructor

Heidi Paye, Wheelchair Fencer and Office Manager
Heidi is an avid wheelchair fencer, and is currently training for national competition. She recently took part in a training camp with the national wheelchair team in Louisville, KY. She is working towards USFCA certification and is looking forward to coaching wheelchair fencing at the club. She was a Member Services Representative at the Towson Family YMCA for five years prior to joining the club. |
