RANKS
As fencers progress, they earn ranks, similar to belts in martial arts, to signify what they have learned and earned in competition. These ranks are only for our club members to help gauge their progress, and are not used by other clubs.

Yellow is typically earned with the completion of introductory training, having learned the basic scoring and rules of fencing, how to stand on guard, advance and retreat, lunge and recover, stop-hit and retreat, maintain/regain distance, parry-6 and riposte, and having participated in bouting at the club.
|
GREEN |
Green is earned when a student has learned and become proficient in closeout-6 and closeout-8 attacks, beat attacks, parry-8 and riposte, reaction tactics, initiating offense, close/increase distance, and participated in any kind of fencing competition (club practice or USA Fencing tournament).

BLUE |
Blue is earned with demonstrated proficiency with pressure attacks (6, 8, 4), feint attacks (double attack, continuous, intimidate), initiating offense tactics, and having participated in at least six competitions of any kind (club practice or USA Fencing).
